Medium Range,
Lower Cost 2.4 GHz License Free Radio:
|
Link PLCs to
each other or an HMI computer to
your field PLC. Provides a
transparent serial connection
between two locations. |
|
Link a
master PLC or HMI to remote PLCs.
For poll response protocols,
there is no limit to the number
of remotes. |
|
Build a
wireless Modbus system across a
facility or region. DIN-S
radio is the Host, DIN-R Modbus
radios with built in I/O are the
slaves. |
Build industrial wireless data links between RTUs, PLCs,
I/O Expanders, controllers and sensors without
cable over distances of up to 10 miles. Create RTU or PLC based SCADA systems that
are networked using wireless serial RS485
data multidrop connections.
Synetcom's 2.4 GHz Serial SCADA Radio Modem can be used
to link SCADA
devices such as PLCs. The radio securely delivers
transparent error-free serial data in adverse
industrial environments, even with other in band
interference (other nearby spread spectrum
radios).
Simple SCADA systems are
easily constructed without PLC and RTU devices
by connecting the SCADA Radio Modem to Synetcom's
Radio Telemetry I/O Expander
(DIN-IOS) module.
The combination creates high I/O count 4-20 mA current loop,
discrete and relay connections between sites
without cables, PLCs (and associated PLC
programming expenses). As few as
one I/O point between a pair of
locations can be easily and
incrementally expanded to many I/O
points between many locations.
Only one SCADA
Radio Modem is required at each site. No
programming is required.
Serial SCADA Radio Modems are always shipped factory-configured and tested.
There is no field configuration necessary. Typical
installation involves simply mounting and powering
the units and connecting the antennas and serial
ports.
The 2.4 GHz Radio Modem utilizes frequency
hopping spread spectrum with advanced protocols
that greatly increase the communications reliability
in high noise and interference environments.
Point
to point or point to multipoint communication
between Modbus host and field PLC or RTU remotes
is supported with one serial Radio Modem at each
location.
Radio Modem repeaters are used wherever either
distance or major obstructions cause the radio
signals to be weak. In large facilities, the
repeater is typically located at the highest
point so that coverage is obtained everywhere.
The control room only needs radio coverage to
the repeater, greatly simplifying installation
and guaranteeing low data latency - unlike
meshed systems which can have very high latency.
The repeater consists of one or two SCADA Radio modems
in a null data connection. Data is processed through
the Repeater
in digital form so sensor reading accuracy is
never affected.
Synetcom offers a complete line of accessories
and system enhancements including:
- Antennas and coaxial cable for short and
long distance applications
- Lightning and external surge / loop isolation
equipment
- NEMA plastic and metal enclosures with
internal DIN rail mounts - designed to house the
radio, power supply and other options
- Solar panel, battery, radio enclosure
optimized for installations where AC power is
not available.
Synetcom specifies a
10 mile (2.4 GHz 80 mW) range that includes a 20 dB margin (if the
signal fades as much as 20 dB - a factor of
1/100 - the link continues to operate).
This assumes line of sight between 18
dBi dish antennas with .6 Fresnel
clearance or better. Obstructions in the line of sight path
reduces range, depending on the type of
obstruction. Contact our factory for
